Position Description
Valley City State University is seeking a System Engineer. This position provides operational support for enterprise-level systems and NDUS services integration with VCSU Systems and administers and maintains physical data centers, server systems, and related hardware and software, including virtualization infrastructure. This position participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure the continuous availability of enterprise systems.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience with server and desktop virtualization. Experience with general data center operations, including HVAC, UPS, networking fundamentals, cabling, servers, storage, and data backup systems. Experience with Enterprise system automation, scripting, and systems integrations. Experience with Linux, Mac and Windows Desktop and Server operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications
VMware vSphere and ESXi hypervisors. Proxmox Virtualization. Enterprise server and storage hardware. Azure and/or AWS Cloud Systems. Rubrik data backup and protection systems. Door and card access systems. Learning management systems. Perl, PHP, Python and/or Shell scripting.

Compensation
$50,000-$55,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
