Position SummaryThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) http://www.uwlax.edu/Chemistry-and-Biochemistry/ is seeking a dynamic teacher-scholar at the Assistant Professor level to join its top-rated program in August 2025. The department strives to maintain an inclusive and collegial working and learning environment for our faculty, staff, and students, and we welcome applicants who share our commitment to these values. Our new colleague will teach lecture and laboratory courses in the core curriculum along with advanced elective courses in their areas of expertise. Candidates with a background in inorganic chemistry (broadly defined) are encouraged to apply. Departmental needs include, but are not limited to, areas of catalysis, materials, nuclear, bioinorganic, and coordination chemistry. We seek a scholar to develop an active research program involving undergraduates. Laboratory research expertise, which may include interdisciplinary areas, is preferred. Our department and college maintain a large array of modern instrumentation resources, including research and teaching laboratories in the state-of-the-art Prairie Springs Science Center.
Under general supervision of the department chair, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses within the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry curriculum to both majors and non-majors while developing courses within the person’s area of expertise. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves staying current in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. The individual is expected to maintain an active program of scholarship that involves undergraduate students and is expected to serve as an academic advisor to students. In addition, this individual is expected to provide service to the department, college, university, community, and/or the profession. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in chemistry or related discipline. ABD will be considered. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year.
Research experience in chemistry or related field
Evidence of teaching and/or mentorship experience
Ability to teach courses in general chemistry
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of completing doctorate by time of hire (8/25/2025)
Postdoctoral research or relevant professional experience
