Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY:

We are looking for a proficient Bioinformatics Scientist with a passion for efficient data organization and integration across OMICS and experimental platforms to join our team. The ideal candidate should have experience developing, maintaining, and updating custom data analysis applications, FAIR data repositories, OMICS, and next-generation sequencing pipelines. This position requires a unique blend of skills, including a strong understanding of bioinformatics, data engineering and scientific software development, including cloud environment.

ROLE RESPONIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain custom applications tailored to meet specific research needs and objectives.
  • Facilitate the build-out of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data repositories to promote data management best practices in collaboration with Computational Biologists and Pfizer Digital
  • Maintain, update, and enhance analysis pipelines with focus on large-scale (OMICS) data.
  • Work closely with scientists and researchers to understand their custom analysis software requirements and translate them into functional applications.
  • Implement custom software updates and improvements in response to feedback from users and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all software developed complies with the latest industry standards and best practices for bioinformatics.
  • Assist in the creation of user-friendly documentation to guide end-users in the effective usage of applications.
  • Debug and resolve software bugs and issues as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field with 3 - 5 years of experience or a Master's degree with 1-3 years of experience.
  • Proven experience as a Software Developer, Bioinformatics Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of next-generation sequencing data.
  • Experience with FAIR data principles and data management best practices.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, R, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $78,000.00 to $130,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
