City of Hope has an outstanding opportunity for an independent and well-organized contributor to serve as a Clinical Research Assistant to Dr. Loretta Erhunmwunsee (Division of Thoracic Surgery and Health Equity) in order to help investigate and ameliorate racial disparities in thoracic oncology. Dr. Erhunmwunsee is a thoracic surgeon and health equity researcher with a strong publication record.

As a Clinical Research Assistant, you will be a vital member of a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Erhunmwunsee. Your role will consist of working on several funded translational and community-based projects.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Conduct background research, write and develop new clinical research protocols under the guidance of a Principal Investigator.
  • Conduct protocol management for an assigned set of multiple research protocols, orientation, screening, and educational programs.
  • Maintain current and accurate protocol documentation and is aware of the timeliness of regulatory documents.
  • Ensure that patients are appropriately scheduled, registered; maintains documentation of patient registration.
  • Compile and submit data on appropriate forms according to protocol requirements.
  • Ensure protocol compliance with intense monitoring of specific study requirements, and schedule protocol related activities.
  • Help to train and mentor new clinical research staff members.
  • Perform specific clinical duties as required per the research protocol.
  • Perform data management and data analyses, as required by the research study.
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Collect and deliver specimens for analysis, using appropriate or specified equipment for collecting and handling specimens; ensure proper labeling and obtains pertinent clinical and protocol information on request forms; develop and maintain knowledge of various aspects of processing specimens, paying particular attention to safety practices.
  • Work with physician or nurse to see that protocol related tests and evaluations are ordered per protocol guidelines.
  • Identify and communicate important protocol and data management issues or problem areas to supervisor.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $24.72 - $35.71 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
