Job Summary
The HITS Continuity and Database Services team is responsible for delivering enterprise database services across Michigan Medicine. This position will help develop and maintain database administration practices across a broad set of clinical, education and business applications. The successful candidate will collaborate with application, infrastructure teams and report thru the Manager of Continuity and Database Services.

Responsibilities*
Plan, install and maintain software releases on multiple database platforms
Research, plan and implement methods to ensure the integrity and recovery of databases
Ensure database services meet the performance and availability requirements for the application
Ensure database services meet the institutional security policies
Analyze resource utilization for database optimization and capacity planning efforts
Monitor and tune production database resources as necessary
Develop and use automation tools and techniques to increase efficiency and productivity
Participate in 7x24 on call support rotation for business-critical databases
Provide technical support to developers, application support teams and vendors as necessary
Develop, review and maintain internal system documentation
Develop, review and maintain database practices and procedures
Provide incident and problem assistance with database customers
Provide and receive cross-training with support processes and procedures
Develop educational goals for continuous improvement of skills
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years experience as an Oracle database administrator
Desired Qualifications*
Experience with current Oracle RDBMS Enterprise Edition releases
Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle RMAN recovery manager
Database administration certification preferred
MySQL, PostgreSQL database experience
IBM AIX, Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Server experience
Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL TCL procedural language experience
Experience with of database automation toolsets
Experience with database management practices in AWS, Azure or other cloud platforms
Experience with cloud architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and adjacent data centers
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Effective organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
