Job Description

The Biology Department of Linfield University is searching for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, to begin July 1, 2025. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced instructor to contribute to courses within the Biology department. A typical load consists of two lecture classes and associated labs per semester. Annually, this will include Biochemistry for biology and biochemistry majors and one semester of Introductory Biology for biology and health sciences-related majors. The remaining load would be comprised of some combination of the following: either Molecular Cell Biology or Genetics (applicants choice); a majors elective course with laboratory in the candidate’s area of expertise; a non-majors course (no laboratory) in the candidate’s area of expertise. Opportunities exist for the new hire to contribute to interdisciplinary, cross-campus programs such as neuroscience, environmental studies, first-year writing seminar, and January study abroad, among others as a part of their load. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to, and the potential for, developing a productive research program with undergraduates. We are open to any research program that expands the research expertise and opportunities in our department in any system, ranging in focus from biomolecules to whole organisms. A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is required; post-doctoral experience is preferred.
