We have a dynamic design and development group that is excited to have an exceptional Electromechanical Technologist candidate join our team.

You will be asked to work on a high-performance design and development team to perform fabrication of test assemblies, to build prototypes, and to realize novel designs that have improved performance and better manufacturability. You will use a variety of hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and benchtop electronic equipment to assemble devices to demonstrate new design concepts, to modify components for unique testing scenarios, and to develop fixtures to be used in mechanical, electrical, thermal, or radiation environments. You will engage in project efforts that are highly collaborative and team oriented in nature while working directly with staff members, technologists, and production operators across the center.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform assembly, machining, modification, inspection, laser marking, welding, brazing, of prototypes and coordinate additional processing, such as encapsulation and flame spray
  • Perform complex electro-mechanical component assembly in a clean (contamination controlled) environment
  • Support the production floor through the knowledge transfer of fabrication methods, the implementation of mistake-proof processes, and the reworking of high-valued components
  • Build and assemble test fixtures for large scale tests that examine the effects of shock, vibration, thermal, and radiation environments
  • Handle classified components appropriately, adhering to movement requirements, and following all security protocols
  • Work safely with radiation containing components, following all policies and procedures regarding movement and modification
  • Coordinate and track the pedigree of multiple experimental test units, record data electronically, and process information on unclassified and classified networks

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
