Summary

The Program in Population and Environmental Health Disparities in the Center for Precision Environmental Health and Department of Medicine (Section of Epidemiology and Populations Sciences) at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician II to assist with data curation, data management, and data analyses for ongoing research projects.  The Program is home to an NIH P50 Center of Excellence on Environmental Health Disparities Research, the Maternal and and Infant Environmental Health Riskscape Center. The Research Technician will have the opportunity to participate in multiple research projects involving data management and analysis and contributing to publications.

Job Duties

  • Downloads, manages, and processes publicly available data for air pollution modeling.
  • Assists in creating  maps and conducts analyses of spatial-temporal data using ARCGIS.
  • Assists in managing and analyzes data in R and SAS for specific research projects.
  • Documents results of analyses and prepares reports for principal investigators.
  • Reviews relevant scientific literature.
  • Tracks study activities by keeping detailed notes.
  • Prepares summaries and reports and develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as needed.
  • Develops and implements QA/QC procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing and interrogating large data sets that includes geospatial data sources (e.g., shape files).
