Summary

Research Coordinators are an integral commodity for clinical research.  The position requires candidates with attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to multitask and maintain organization.  They are primarily responsible for the complete management and monitoring of assigned clinical studies.  They liaise with the Principle Investigators (PI) to ensure timelines, data compilation and compliance.

Job Duties

The Research Coordinator is responsible for IRB submissions, interviewing, screening and recruiting patients, site initiation visits, interim monitoring visits and close-out studies, explaining processes and procedures to educate the participants regarding the respective research study.  Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.  In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, the research coordinator is also responsible for:

  • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • Collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Responsible for maintaining records and regulatory documents and records for respective research studies.
  • Ensures retrieval and submits test results to appropriate party.
  • Provides correspondence to the patients as necessary.
  • Establishing and managing IRB's.
  • Managing investigational drug accountability.
  • Managing investigational site file.
  • Navigation of electronic data capture systems.
  • Navigations of BRAIN.
  • Ability to work with Advarra IRB and Western IRB.
  • Ability to coordinate, manage and complete the required submissions, amendments and renewals to the IRB.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. No experience required with preferred degree.
  • Experience as clinical research coordinator.
  • Regulatory experience.
  • Experience as an ophthalmic technician.
