Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented data professional to join the Michigan Performance Research Lab as a part of the School of Kinesiology and Human Performance and Sports Science Center at the University of Michigan. The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions to challenging problems and data processing using wearable technologies.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual to assist with data analytics and data infrastructure, among other duties, for several sponsored sport science-related research projects related to wearable technologies. In particular, this position will assist with database creation/management, data extraction, loading and transformation, python development with very large datasets, and work with industry partners for data using wearable sensors and cloud-based systems. This individual will work with a team of investigators and collaborative researchers within the Michigan Performance Research (MiPR) Laboratory at The University of Michigan. The successful candidate will be based at the School of Kinesiology in Ann Arbor, MI (remote work will be considered). This position may also have the opportunity for oversight of day-to-day data operations and may supervise exempt and non-exempt research and support personnel.
Responsibilities*
Responsibilities associated with this full-time position, with approximate effort distribution, are:

30% effort will be devoted to creation and maintenance of database from in-lab data collected in the MiPR lab,
30% effort developing data extraction methods by writing and revising Python code for data analysis of industry sponsored research projects and working with industry partners for shared data sets,
20% effort supporting PIs and others in development of specific analysis plans and data visualization.
10% effort to coordinate with in-lab data collection team to screen to verify the data, and
10% effort to collaborate with the MPR lab team and assist with creating future methods for data analysis.
Required Qualifications*
Requirements for this position are:

Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of related experience at the Intermediate level, or 5+ years of experience at the Senior level. Or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistical Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
Ability to work between different operating systems (UNIX/Linux, Windows, OS)
Demonstrated experience/skills in:
Database programming (SQL, Python, Java, C/C++/C#),
Integrations and ELT/ETL programming (SQL, Python, JavaScript, APIs, SSIS, Informatica, BizTalk)
Data analysis (SQL, R, etc.)
Database management (MS SQL Server Studio, Azure Studio, Toad, Oracle SQL Developer)
Business intelligence tools (PowerQuery, Power BI, Tableau, BuisnessObjects, Looker)
Excellent organizational skills with experience in data management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with others in a dynamic, collaborative environment are required.

Desired Qualifications*
Experience working with time-series data and algorithm development.
Cloud development and API experience (Snowflake, Azure, AWS, REST APIs)
Demonstrated ability to assist with statistical analyses and familiarity with statistical software packages/languages (R, SPSS).
Preference for past experience or interest in the fields of kinesiology, exercise science, sports science, or related field - but not required
