Summary

The Eberlin Laboratory in the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician I to perform routine elements of laboratory tasks management that requires the use of basic technical and laboratory skills. The Research Technician I will be a motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual who is comfortable working with other scientists in a research laboratory focused on translational biomedical research.

Job Duties

  • Prepares materials and supplies for laboratory research experiments. (20%)
  • Maintains research instrumentation (e.g., mass spectrometers and 3D printers). (15%)
  • Produces and develops research devices (e.g., mass spec pen devices and sources). (10%)
  • Maintains the organization of the laboratory. (10%)
  • Orders supplies. (5%)
  • Keeps timely organization of all orders, invoices, and other documentation on research accounts required for purchasing. (10%)
  • Organizes laboratory activities, including weekly group meetings and other gatherings. (10%)
  • Interfaces with clinical providers to receive and send samples, including surgeons, pathologists, nurses, and doctors. (10%)
  • Assists research staff in conducting research experiments. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science (Chemistry would be of preference) or related field.
