As a member of the Moffitt Non-Therapeutic Research Office (NTRO) you may interact directly with community members and patients to enroll, educate, and guide participants through the experience of taking part in research. You may support non-therapeutic research in other ways including data entry, project and protocol management and quality assurance. Regardless, you will be a member of a collaborative team that ensures non-therapeutic research activities are moving forward safely, smoothly, and according to plan.

Our NTRO Research team comes from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including public health, psychology, biological sciences and more. There are opportunities for those who have worked in other areas of public health as well as those who are looking for a new and exciting opportunity. Team members of NTRO work closely with community members, patients, patient families, study sponsors, and the clinical teams including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care providers.  

These positions typically offer a Monday through Friday schedule, though some require occasional weekends. Most offer a hybrid schedule (mix of remote and on-site). Moffitt offers training and orientation. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Research Coordinator I

We are looking to hire an individual to participate in challenging and interesting work that cuts across two NIH-funded studies. The first project focuses on using advanced technology (i.e., augmented reality via smartphone) as an innovative adjuvant to smoking cessation treatments. People seeking to quit smoking through the Florida Quitline will be referred to the study, and participants will use an augmented reality smartphone application to help reduce urges to smoke. The second project is evaluating mindfulness as an intervention to address burden among caregivers of bone marrow transplant patients. This is a 3-arm randomized controlled trial that follows caregivers from pre-transplant through 6 months post-transplant. This position will be primarily dedicated to the first project.

Works independently under general supervision of the designated PI and research team to coordinate the activities of assigned research protocols

Responsibilities:

• Identifies, recruits and consents people who are referred through the Florida Quitline and/or the BMT unit
• Provides coaching on the use of an augmented reality app for smoking cessation
• Monitors and tracks recruitment and enrollment numbers
• Monitors data collection and compliance
• Ensures adherence to study timelines
• Coordinates administrative tasks for the investigator including deviations and preparation of IRB documents to send to the regulatory specialist 

Credentials and Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a field relating to public health, psychology, biological sciences or relevant field is required. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is preferred.
• Must have good organization and communication skills
• Must work well under pressure of meeting mandatory deadlines
